Overview

Proven leader offering expertise in developing and executing strategic plans to grow business and a serve as a change agent within healthcare.  This is an Senior Vice President role with responsibility for driving revenue by securing contracts with different Payer stakeholders to purchase BlueStar®.  Payers are defined as health insurance carriers, employers, IDNs, health systems, large physician practices, pharmacy benefit managers, ACO/PCMH programs and other organizations (such as telemedicine, disease management companies etc.).   The Executive Director of Market Access will be responsible to leverage their expertise about Payers to develop benefit coverage, standards of care and payment strategies to propose to Payers and secure their business.  

 

This position is required to design strategic and tactical plans to maximize adoption and uptake of BlueStar® within the Payer community.  To be successful, the candidate must be able to work collaboratively within a team; be driven, with a proven track record of selling products or services within the healthcare marketplace; have deep knowledge of Payers and their needs; experienced in developing proposals and negotiating contracts as well as be agile (able to quickly pivot) to meet the needs of customers and WellDoc®.  It is a plus to also have experience with diabetes, population health and/or introducing a new product/service to market.

This position is an individual contributor role with the possibility to grow and mentor a team as the organization grows.  The candidate must work well in a start-up environment and be able to contribute and, when appropriate, coach throughout all levels within WellDoc®.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure business within the Healthcare Payer space:  create proposals and negotiate terms, within set parameters, to secure contracts for implementation of BlueStar®.  This will require taking a consultative sales approach to securing business.
  • Collaborate within WellDoc® to develop client strategies and execution of Payer agreements.
  • Strong relationship creation and management of prospect, key clients and distribution partners.
  • Form and execute on distribution channel partners to recommend and execute adding BlueStar® as a covered benefit or standard of care.
  • High level oversight regarding implementation of BlueStar as a type 2 diabetes management program within the Healthcare continuum.
  • Provide guidance and insight into the Digital Healthcare marketplace to assist in program and product development.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Payer space within WellDoc® to drive marketing, operations, financial and product offerings
  • Proactively seek and obtain speaking engagements with clients and thought leaders in order to generate public recognition for WellDoc® and result in new business and revenue generation

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of healthcare experience with demonstrated success working and/or negotiating with Payers (health plans, health systems, IDN, employers etc.) and Distribution Channels (benefit consultants, third party administrators, disease management organizations etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare trends and understanding of ACO, PCMH, NCQA, HEDIS, and other relevant Payer related population health strategies and valued based contracting approaches.
  • Has established personal credibility as a strategic advisor to Payers and Distribution Channel Partners:  prospects and existing clients.
  • Significant and sustained business development experience that includes interacting and strategizing with and presenting to c-suite executives – proven trusted advisor status.
  • Relevant experience negotiating contracts with Payer and gaining adoption of new technologies, practices and/or solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience creating new business, managing existing business and bringing forward new ideas to grow revenue.  Relevant experience creating and executing revenue generating go-to-market strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and generate enthusiasm with individuals across all levels external and internal to WellDoc.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills that translate into positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a portfolio of different Payer prospects.
  • Solid communication skills including the ability to concisely explain complicated concepts to executives within and outside of the organization.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytic skills with the ability to apply knowledge outside of one’s immediate functional area.
