    This position will lead the company’s financial accounting, reporting, and control activities.  The incumbent will also play an important role in the future of the company by assisting the CFO with financial planning and analysis, including the creation and maintenance of various excel models.  Candidates with proven experience with General Ledger and transactional processing (AP, AR, cash), who are looking to broaden their career while learning the inner workings of a health IT start-up company are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the administration, coordination, and management of fiscal activities of the organization, including month, quarter, and year-end financial analysis packages
    • Process accounting transactions, such as payroll previews, billings, wire/ACH payments, and A/P checks
    • Create journal entries and reconciliations of general ledger account and maintain records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions as part of the monthly close
    • Monitor internal controls and assist in formulation and execution of policies and procedures, including travel and expense reporting
    • Lead financial, variance, and trending analysis for key profitability drivers and metrics
    • Interpret results and articulate actionable recommendations to maximize profitability and ensure financial targets are achieved
    • Lead ad-hoc analysis & projects including investment/resource allocation & ROI analysis
    • Maintain regulatory compliance in financial operations, contract management and record keeping
    • Assist in the oversight of cash management, credit administration, and administration of business insurance programs. May have direct interaction with external stakeholders (e.g. bankers, investors and Board of Directors)
    • Primary user and owner of the financial accounting computer system, including customization, user controls, operating procedures, preparation of reports, and analyses
    • Interact regularly with auditors, prepares reports, and responds to audit and Board requests for financial analysis
    • Assist with and/or handles ad hoc reporting and miscellaneous accounting related projects
    • Develop and maintain pricing models, financial budgets and investment model
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business with an accounting emphasis; 
    • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
    • Knowledge of accounting controls and financial reporting
    • Expert level MS Excel skills, including modeling and data aggregation functions 
    • Previous experience and proficiency with QuickBooks preferred
    • Willingness to work in a dynamic start-up atmosphere
    • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking
    • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaborate with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including ability to prepare presentations to senior executives and Board members
    • Effective interpersonal skills with a variety of functions and colleagues located in Maryland and offshore development subsidiary located in India
    • Ability to handle the most sensitive and confidential information properly, identify and address potential issues of compliance and ethics, and direct/advise others with tact and proper discretion
