We are currently seeking a "Contract" Technical Writer to help us with our current initiatives.

Responsibilities

In this role, as the Contract Technical Writer, you will edit, proofread, and provide writing support for both non-technical and/or technical documentation. Ensures that documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Duties may include collaboration with technical subject matter experts, technical editing and writing, establishing documentation guidelines, procedures, and templates; word processing, and coordinating final production of deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:

 

Technical Writing:

  • Develop, write, review, revise, and maintain security program standards and procedures for compliance. Conduct research and work in collaboration with SMEs to validate Company’s policies, standards, plans, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Thoroughly capture basis and background information in supporting documentation for the transition..
  • Reviews: Perform independent Technical Reviews and/or cross-discipline Reviews of guidance documents drafted by others. Review temporary procedure changes prior to permanent incorporation.
  • Screen procedure change requests for suitability and clarity, and provide feedback when needed. review proposed design changes for potential procedure impact.
  • Collaborate with Leadership and Regulatory Department to finalize compliance documents. Prepare executive materials to achieve compliance documentation approvals. Complete company compliance publication process for approved documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Provide general guidance and Technical assistance to other team members in areas of expertise.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of security program policies, standards, and procedures.

Qualifications

To be succesful in this role, you will need:

1.) IT industry experience: Experience drafting IT Technical Documents (Minimum of at least 3 years) compliant with NIST framework

Minimum :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information and Computer Science, or Technical Writing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience in a related field
  • A minimum of regulatory technical writing in an engineering, technology or scientific field
  • Physical or technology security and/or network background that is critical to procedure-focused technical writing
  • Effective data gathering skills with an ability to source content from multiple subject matter experts
  • Experience developing technical guidance documents
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to decompose and distill relevant information
  • Experience functioning at a high level in a fast-paced work environment
  • Effective organization, prioritization and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workload and time effectively
  • Strong customer focus, commitment to excellence, results orientation, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple procedure assignments

Desired:

  • Solid understanding of NIST security framework and specifically, application to HITRUST CSF framework
  • Solid understanding of standards and procedure development
  • Research skills and the ability to read, understand, and extract information from process flow diagrams and technical literature
  • Experience analyzing, translating and redesigning technical documentation at a level suitable for the intended audience
  • General knowledge of applicable industry regulations, practices, codes, standards, and requirements, and the ability to become thoroughly familiar with this material within a reasonable period of time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
